Mitzie is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who has served in the mental health industry for 9+ years. She specializes in treating trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders by providing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing). In addition, she is trained in Brain Spotting and Ego State Therapy, which are all different therapeutic modalities to treat trauma. Mitzie earned her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Management from the University of Phoenix and a graduate degree in Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from
San Diego State University. She is currently in the last year of her Doctoral studies at Loma Linda University where she will specialize in Marital and Family Therapy. In the past, she has been an adjunct faculty and a guest lecturer for the master’s Marriage and Family Therapy program. Mitzie has also worked with different programs such as in the juvenile justice system, adult probation department, and TAY. Additionally, Mitzie has worked closely with a diverse population/background including couples, adolescents, grief and bereavement clients, Spanish-speaking families, and religious non-profit organizations. Mitzie hopes to expand her expertise in academia and become a professor for a Higher-ed institution, open her own private and clinical practice, as well as educate the Christian and Latino community in mental health.
